  • The water

Rowing club, narrowboats, and the towpath to Millbrook for an evening walk.

  • Homes

Warehouse apartments on the quay, Edwardian avenues behind, and 1950s family streets on the hill.

  • Out

The quay has two good pubs, a bakery and the Saturday food market in summer.

The Riverside runs along the Lark from the old bridge to the weir. Its wool warehouses became apartments in the nineties, and behind them run the Edwardian avenues the town grew into when the railway came.

It is the easiest part of town for commuters: flat, a walk along the towpath to the station, and most homes have somewhere to park.
